Totavo began as an idea for two entrepreneurs from Quebec, an idea which quickly became a real project. The two had become friends by previously working together in different logistics fields before deciding to launch their own distribution initiative. The idea spawned from a trip to the United-States where they first dealt with an online grocery delivery third party. Impressed by how efficient and time saving it was, they did a bit of research and realized that the same kind of service was already available and quite popular in Europe and most major north american cities. Totavo is the answer to the next question they had: how come we don't have this back in Montreal ?!
The concept: put a team on the road that will cover most local grocery stores and buy directly every item that's not already carried in inventory. In constant communication, the team can ensure that every order placed on the web can be fullfilled at 99,9%. For customers, that means the end of finding empty shelves, multiple stops, and having to deal with rainchecks.
They then started designing and programming the website during the summer of 2014. Everything was done internaly so that they could make sure that every apect would remain easily adaptable, allowing constant price drops, spontaneous new deals and most importantly; being able to rapidly answer special requests by adding new items suggested by customers timely, On January 1st 2015, the website was launched with over 2600 items covering each section of a conventional grocery stores, freshness guaranteed.
